Skin type: normal-dry | Concerns: dehydration, texture and acne scarring.
Hey Nolababes!
Dee here, if you haven’t already met me, I’m part of the Nolaskinsentials family and today, I want to have a little girl chat about my skin, concerns and my current skincare routine! Let’s get to it, shall we?
O’ Happy Day:
Like most of you, my skin does this thing where it completely freaks out and returns to normal within the next week. Because of this, I choose products that can help in pretty much all areas. Whether it be acne related, blemishes, moisture — you name it, this routine covers all basis.
AM Routine — 5mins.
Products used: Clarifying Cleansing Foam, Ginseng Aloe Toner, Rose Hydration Mist, Hyaluronic H2O Crème.
Sounds like a lot, right? Not really. As a pretty busy mom, I like to get straight to the point. I can do exactly that with the products above. I first use my Clarifying Cleanser, typically I’ll wash with this and an Eco tools cleansing brush for about 30-60 seconds. I then pat my face dry with a clean towel, or a paper napkin to avoid any bacteria from settling into my skin. Because I often deal with dryness, after my skin is dry, I use my Ginseng Aloe Toner. About 3 sprays to the face and swipe away with a cotton pad. My Rose Hydration Mist is usually up next. After spraying that, with clean hands, I firmly press the mist into my skin to maximize moisture retention. Lastly, I apply my Hyaluronic H2O Crème. All done!
PM Routine — 10/15mins.
Products used: Pumpkin Vanilla Bean Exfoliant, Clarifying Cleansing Foam, Ginseng Aloe Toner, Pumpkin Enzyme Mask/Green Tea Antioxidant Mask, Brightening C Serum, Hyaluronic H2O Crème.
Nights are for excessive self-care. I mean a highly-anticipated bubble bath, wine, and a great face mask. I’m able to give my skin a little extra love once settling down before bed. However, my night routine is fairly similar to my morning routine, with the addition of face masks and serums.
This time, before cleansing, I use my Pumpkin Vanilla Bean Exfoliant. This helps to slough my literal day away. Any dull/dry skin is gently exfoliated away, allowing my cleanser and remainder of my products to penetrate my skin better. I then follow with my cleanser and unlike before — I add a face mask in prior to toning. Typically, I’ll double mask with the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask and the Green Tea Antioxidant Mask. One to combat scarring and dull skin while the other aids in calming and soothing. Pretty much the best combination there is! I leave these masks on for about 5-7 minutes, which also allows my green tea mask to fully dry since it’s a clay mask as well. Then, I follow up with my Rose Hydration Mist and Brightening C Serum. Lastly, like my morning routine, my moisturizer is last and I’m ready to binge watch Riverdale on Netflix!
FAQ Skincare Questions.
How did you learn your skin type + what it needed?
Over time it kind of just came to me. The more I learned about skincare, the easier it became to determine what my skin needed and how to properly evaluate. I also get facials by a licensed esthetician, so that also helped as well.
Do you use other brands on your skin?
Yes, depending on what my skin needs at that time, my routine is fairly diverse. But, my go-to products are mostly from our brand!
What’s your favorite Nolaskinsentials product?
Eh, so many to choose from. But, I’ll definitely say I’m currently in between the Pumpkin Vanilla Bean Exfoliant and the Rose Hydration Mist.
