Let's Talk: Biodegradable
Sure, you’ve heard of the term “biodegradable”, but what does it really mean? And what does it have to do with us, Nolaskinsentials?
If you’re a true Nolababe, you’re pretty in-tune with how we do things around here, and if you’re new to the NOLA tribe — allow us to catch you up.
Since our initial launch, we’ve been transparent with pretty much, well —everything! Down to the ingredients used in each product. Each year, we take it a step further to improve our packaging to contribute a little love to Mother Nature. In short, biodegradable simply means that something can break down safely and relatively quickly. If you’ve shopped with us, you’ll notice that those “little white things”, as some of our Nolababes call them are biodegradable shipping peanuts. Not only do they secure your products during shipment, but they breakdown when exposed to water. But, don’t just take our word for it — have a look yourself!
We’re pretty certain your next question is, “how in the world?” Science babes, the magical art of science! Our packaging peanuts are made of starch instead of harmful Styrofoam, so after you’re done playing with your package simply toss the water out or water a plant!
Not only do we love providing quality products to help your beautiful faces, we do it with a clear conscious to back us up. 97% of our products are also shipped in glass containers. So, what does that mean? More recycling, less plastic and even more chances for you to shop with bigger discounts! To bring you along this green ride, we’ve implemented a Recycling Program. Nolababes who shop with us are able to return glass ware from finished products to receive free items or discounts to apply to a future purchase!
Beauty doesn’t always have to be pain, for ourselves or even the Earth. With the help of our nolababes, we’re one step close to saving our planet! If you have any questions regarding recycling in your neighborhood, visit Call2Recycle! Or visit our favorite, TerraCycle — they help with hard-to-recycle materials, with this program it allows you to recycle anything!
Going green? We’d love to hear about it! How do you plan on contributing to making Earth a better place?
